ADVANCEMENT 1971
Recorded at Mt Elisa
Original Album from Ed Thring.
Arrangements by Peter Bauers.

Advancement_PromoA little treasure That Ed Thring found of a little known recording by Peter Bauers and some well know names from the 70's FND band.

This Album has Mp3 recordings.

Peters recollection of the Album goes like this.
The name originated from Kevin Ridout and the songs were just a collection that I wanted to do at the time, 'Peter says'. The Navy did do some fill-in footage for Channel 10 (I think) and I did some of the Charts for that.
There was an arrangement of a tune written by Friday James, a bluesy thing in 6/4, went into 3/2 in the bridge which I think I dropped into the middle of Bill’s tune. He sent me the melody on a manuscript after not being able to sleep with the tune running through his head all night. A nice alto solo on Baby Elephant by Ken Monk. I think I hogged the other sax solos.
The members were made up of, Kevan Thomas on bass guitar, Pat Elsley on drums and Peter Arrowsmith on Piano. The other musicians were, Kim Rushworth, Ken Monk on Sax's, Doug Drysdale, Trumpet, John Hanratty, Trombone and Peter on Sax.
Can’t remember the other tunes on it. It was recorded at a studio in Mount Elisa, no over-dubbing allowed. Actually it wasn’t possible with the equipment available at the time.
Following are the 7 tracks that make up the album.
